In June or July NI usually is having a summer sale, sign up for their newsletter. I really advise you to start looking for Kontakt deals (I agree that it's too expensive on its own). With all it's flaws it's a de-facto sampler standard. You may lose advanced features that rely on Kontakt scripting though. Or you can convert it to some other sampler format yourself because if the Kontakt library does not work in the free Kontakt Player it automatically means it's not encrypted and all the samples are available for tweaking.
